Balcones Songbird Tour - Slow Birding
Description
Slow Birding with Dennis Palafox
$50 Per Attendee
Balcones Songbird Tours offer expertly guided, intimate access to the refuge and serve as one of our largest annual fundraisers. All proceeds directly support refuge management and conservation efforts.
Take a break from the rush and join us for a relaxing slow birding tour at Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge this April.
This two-hour tour will take place in and around the Refuge headquarters, offering a calm and mindful approach to birding. Slow birding encourages you to focus on the experience — observing bird behavior, listening to their calls, and noticing how they interact with their environment. Instead of racing to check off species, this tour invites you to slow down, tune into nature, and deepen your connection with the birds around you.
The Refuge headquarters is a great spot for both resident and migrating species. As you move through the trails, you may hear the soft calls of a Hutton’s Vireo, spot a Painted Bunting in the brush, or see a Blue-gray Gnatcatcher flitting through the trees. Spring is an active time for birds, and this unhurried pace will give you the chance to appreciate their songs, colors, and behaviors without distraction.
This tour is perfect for both experienced birders looking to reconnect with the basics and beginners who want to ease into the world of birding. If you’re ready to slow down and see birds in a whole new way, this is the tour for you! Space is limited, so register soon to secure your spot.
