Gather your loved ones for a family friendly hike filled with fresh air, laughter, and discovery at Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge. Together, we’ll play a lively game of Nature Bingo, spotting wildlife aalong the trail.
Breathe in the crisp Hill Country air, listen for bird songs, and let nature be the backdrop for your family’s next adventure. Whether you’re local or visiting, this joyful outing is a wonderful way to slow down, reconnect, and celebrate the simple magic of time spent outdoors.

Who is this event for?
This event is for any family with children that would like to visit the Refuge! The hike will be on our Martin Tract and accessible for children of all ages.
What do I need to bring?

A smart phone or camera to take photos

Water and snacks to enjoy on the trail

Bug spray or long pants for portions of the trail where grass occasionally overlaps into the trail

Sun screen
Time
The event will last approximately 1.5 - 2 hours. Restrooms are located at the begining and end of the Hike.
Location
Martin Track is located at BCNWR Headquarters: 24518 Ranch Road 1431, Marble Falls, TX
Since this hike is on the weekend when the visitor center is closed, one of the hike leaders will meet you at the gate to the headquarters of Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge and give you access to the main parking lot. Once all registered participants are checked in, we will go to the trailhead from there.
Please be there 15 minutes before the hike start time so that we can start the hike promptly. Once the hike begins, no one will be monitoring the gate.
Group Size: Registration is limited to 25 participants for this hike.
Weather Advisory and Other Cancellations: In the event that we need to cancel due to extreme weather or other unforeseen conditions you will be notified via email and text at least two hours prior to the hike start time.
Participant Cancellations: Our hikes are popular and often have wait lists, if you need to cancel, we ask that you try to do so at least 48 hours in advance so that a wait-list participant is notified in adequate time to be able to join us on the trail!
